Creating an FTP account in cPanel is a simple process that allows you to grant access to specific users for uploading and managing files on your website. This guide will walk you through the steps to create an FTP account in cPanel, even if you have minimal technical knowledge.
Log in to your cPanel account:
To get started, log in to your cPanel account using your username and password. If you don't remember your username and password you can refer to your welcome email that you received on signing up.
Locate the "Files" section:
Once logged in, scroll down and find the "Files" section on the cPanel dashboard.
Click on "FTP Accounts":
In the "Files" section, click on the "FTP Accounts" icon.
Enter the FTP account details:
Now you will see the "Add FTP Account" form. Fill in the required information:
a. "Login": Choose a username for the new FTP account.
b. "Password": Enter a strong password or use the "Password Generator" to create one for you. Make sure to save the password in a secure place.
c. "Directory": By default, cPanel will populate this field with a directory based on the username. You can change this to a specific directory if you want the user to have access to a particular folder only.
d. "Quota": Set a storage limit for the FTP account, or choose "Unlimited" if you don't want to impose any restrictions.
Create the FTP account:
Once you've filled out the form, click the "Create FTP Account" button. Your new FTP account will be created and listed under the "FTP Accounts" section.
